Learn About the MonkeyPod API

This documentation is intended for developers and technically experienced users.

For organizations with development resources, the MonkeyPod API (Application Programming Interface) makes it possible to build custom integrations and exchange data between MonkeyPod and other tools your organization uses. The API enables developers to programmatically manage entities (contacts), donations, grants, pledges, disbursements, fund releases, email lists, accounts, and more.

To find the API keys and webhooks, choose My MonkeyPod > Organization Settings and select the API tab.

Get your API key

If your organization is on an Enterprise plan, you can provision your own API key right from your user settings.

To provision your API key:

  1. Click your profile icon and select User Settings.
  2. Select the API Keys tab.
  3. Click Provision API Key.
  4. Review the warning, then click Provision to confirm.
  5. Click Copy Key and save it somewhere secure right away. Heads up! For security reasons, your API key is displayed only once. If you close the window before copying it, you won't be able to retrieve it, and you'll need to provision a new one.

Each user can have only one API key at a time. Org admins can see which team members have provisioned a key (though never the key itself) under Organization Settings > API.

Heads up! MonkeyPod's API is only available to Enterprise users and requires significant technical expertise to use. The API is considered to be in "beta" and remains under active development. We will make reasonable efforts to ensure its stability, but make no guarantees, warranties, or promises with respect to its availability or performance.
