Learn About Donor Research Profiles
With Donor Research Profiles, your MonkeyPod uses AI to research publicly available information about your donors and generate a summary of their interests, giving capacity, and a recommended engagement strategy.
These profiles can be especially useful when you're preparing for a major donor meeting and want to go in with more than just a giving history. Donor Profiles can surface publicly available signals about a donor's philanthropic interests and capacity so your team can walk in better prepared and have more meaningful conversations.
Availability and pricing:
Donor Research Profiles are available to all MonkeyPod subscribers except for fiscal sponsees and Community Edition subscribers. Each plan includes a monthly allowance of free profiles:
- Essentials: 5 profiles per month
- Pro: 20 profiles per month
- Enterprise: 50 profiles per month
Additional profiles beyond your monthly allowance are available for $2.00 each.
Current usage is displayed at the top of the Donor Research Profiles page (Fundraising > Donor Research Profiles).
How do I generate a donor research profile?
Profiles are generated on demand and stored directly on the donor's relationship record for future reference. To create a new profile:
- Navigate to Fundraising > "Research and Reports" > Donor Research Profiles.
-
Start typing the name of the donor you'd like to research and select it from the list, then click Generate Profile. (If the donor isn't already in your MonkeyPod, you'll need to create the relationship first.)

- Wait for the profile to finish generating. Don't navigate away or close the page while a profile is in progress — leaving the page will cancel the process and you'll need to start over.
Where can I find my donor profiles?
Once it's been created, the profile appears in the list of generated profiles on the Fundraising > "Research and Reports" > Donor Research Profiles page. Click the view icon to see the profile.

Profiles are also accessible from the Donor Profile tab on the donor's relationship record,

as well as from a link on the Giving Analytics card on the donor's relationship page.

Note: If a donor doesn't have a generated research profile, the link in the Giving Analytics card on their relationship page will be a link to generate a profile for them.
Who can view or generate profiles?
Access to Donor Profiles is controlled by your organization's permission settings (My MonkeyPod > Permissions > Relationships). There are two separate permissions for this feature:
- View Donor Profiles: Allows a user to view existing donor profiles and the Donor Profiles page.
- Generate Donor Profiles: Allows a user to generate or refresh donor profiles.
Here are the default permissions by role. Administrators can adjust these defaults under your organization's permission settings.

A Note on AI Use and Accuracy
This feature uses artificial intelligence (AI) to research publicly available information about a donor and generate a cultivation profile. MonkeyPod takes your privacy very seriously. Your proprietary data stays completely private and AI models are never trained on or fine-tuned using your information.
As with any AI-generated content, results may occasionally be incomplete or inaccurate — for example, MonkeyPod may have limited data available for donors who don't have a significant public presence. We recommend treating profiles as a helpful starting point for your research rather than a definitive source, and reviewing them carefully before acting on the information.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I update a previously generated profile?
Sure! To update a profile with fresh information, use the Re-generate Profile button on the profile. Note that this will count against your profile generation allowance. If you want to save the original profile, use the Email PDF button to send yourself a copy before you re-generate the profile.
